Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has warned Chelsea that they will have to dig deep if they intend to follow up their interest in Javier Pastore with a firm bid.

The summer transfer market is threatening to turn into silly season, with huge fees being quoted for players. Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo has claimed Alexis Sanchez is worth €50m, which has prompted Zamparini to claim his charge would command a higher fee.

Argentina midfielder Pastore, who turned 22 this week, has apparently attracted serious interest from a number of clubs around Europe this summer including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"Pastore is worth more than Sanchez," Zamparini told Corriere dello Sport. "He will one day win the Ballon d'Or award.

"I have not received any offers for Pastore but there have been approaches from foreign clubs, a few concrete, that are growing strong - but I reiterate that the player is worth €50 million and that price could be higher depending on the offers as well as how the battles between the teams that are interested in the player unfold.

"I don't think Italian teams will make it. For €38 million, Javier will not move. We are ready to extend his contract for a further two years and he would be happy."

Pastore is under contract at Palermo until 2015.
