City overtake Barcelona in Sanchez race

Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo claims the momentum is swinging towards Manchester City as the battle to sign Alexis Sanchez rages on.

Earlier in the week it appeared Sanchez was on the brink of joining Barcelona, with Pozzo confirming the Champions League winners were in pole position, but now it seems City are best placed to meet the €50 million asking price as Barca turn their focus to Cesc Fabregas.

"If he was to leave, I would say that City have the highest probability of success," Pozzo said.

City face a race against time to complete a deal for the 22-year-old Chilean winger, as the Copa America, which starts on July 4, is set to complicate the flow of negotiations.

Udinese stand to make a significant profit on Sanchez, who they bought from Cobreloa for around €2 million in 2006.

He made 27 starts and scored 12 goals as Udinese finished in fourth place in Serie A last season.
