Barca make final Sanchez offer

Barcelona have made a final offer for Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez and are not willing to go any higher, according to a spokesman for the European champions.

Sanchez's protracted departure from Udinese has rumbled on over the past few weeks but Wednesday appears to be a watershed day in the transfer saga that has dominated the summer window thus far.

Earlier, Manchester City revealed that they had pulled out of the race to sign the Chile international, who has repeatedly stressed that a move to Spain would be his preferred option.

''I have spoken to Sanchez,'' Mancini told Sky Italia. ''He said he was open to the idea of coming to City but then we have pulled out (of negotiations). After our last offer, we are out of the race to acquire the Chilean player.''

That appears to have paved the way for Barca to seal a deal for the 22-year-old, though the two clubs have yet to agree terms.

The Serie A outfit have publicly valued Sanchez at upwards of €40 million but, while Barca are willing to meet that sum, the Catalans are believed to have only tabled a bid of of €27 million up front, with a series of potential add-ons included to take the fee up to Udinese's valuation.

"We are waiting for a response from Udinese," a Barca spokesperson told Spanish news agency EFE. "Barcelona made a definitive offer for the player and we will not change the parameters indicated."
