AC Milan claim Fabregas 'will join another club'

AC Milan have categorically ruled themselves out of the running for Cesc Fabregas, because they are convinced he "will join another club".

Arsenal skipper Fabregas has long been linked to Barcelona, after he was the subject of a €40 million approach last summer. The Gunners have already received a bid of £27 million from the European champions this year, rejected out of hand.

Fabregas has done little to halt speculation linking him to a return to Barcelona, revealing on Wednesday that a potential move was looking positive.

"I'm calm and I am optimistic," Fabregas was quoted as saying in AS. "If something happens, it is because it has to happen."

As a sub-plot to the transfer saga, reports coming out of the Italian media began to suggest that Milan would match the transfer fee demanded by Arsenal, as well as making a personal offer that the Spaniard could not refuse.

The Italian giants were linked with a double bid for Kaka and Fabregas, but the potential of such a deal taking place has been doused by Adriano Galliani. The Milan vice-president did not name Barcelona directly, but he appears convinced Fabregas is already on his way out of Arsenal.

Responding to transfer speculation on the club's official website, Galliani wrote: "Zero chance of [Marek] Hamsik arriving and zero chance of Kaka. Fabregas? He will join another club."
