Barcelona superstar Xavi will not feel that his place in the team is threatened if Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas joins him at the Camp Nou this summer.

Fabregas has spent several summers being linked with a return back to his boyhood heroes and will be competing against the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets for a starting position.

Yet Xavi, regarded by many as a key component in Barcelona's recent success, would welcome Fabregas to the club.

He told AS.com: "Competition is always good and Cesc is an extraordinary footballer. If he comes, he will be here to help out. I feel good physically, I'm very motivated and content.

"Last year I suffered some tendonitis in the Achilles tendon but I'm over that. I'll try to start off as best I can and at the highest level."

He also had words of praise for promising midfielder Thiago Alcantara, while also describing 20-year-old Bojan Krkic as a great player ahead of his expected transfer to Roma: "It's great news. He [Thiago Alcantara] is a fantastic player and has lots of talent. The competitiveness within the group is good."

On Bojan, Xavi said: "He has shown he can do well at Barcelona, but it's down to the club and coach. If he goes then I wish him well as he is a great player."

Meanwhile talks for another transfer target, Guiseppe Rossi, have reportedly stalled.
