Harry Redknapp feels Tottenham's fierce rivals Arsenal have sold Gael Clichy on the cheap.

Clichy secured a move to Manchester City on Monday after coming through a medical, with the deal believed to be worth £7 million. The full back is one of the brightest defensive talents in the Premier League and the fee has raised eyebrows.

Arsenal were reluctant sellers, but with Clichy running into the final year of his contract and with no sign of a new deal being agreed - they accepted City's offer.

Redknapp is aware Arsenal had their hand forced by the player's contract winding down and believes City have got a bargain.

"He is a fantastic signing, a top left back and a top player," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "He has got everything.

"I am just surprised he is leaving Arsenal. I thought he would be there for ever. It is a big signing.

"It is cheap. £7 million. What a signing. If you let people run into the last year then you are not going to get big fees for them."
