With the second seat at Force India the one remaining driver vacancy to be filled for 2013, speculation continues as to who will be unveiled between now and next week's Barcelona test with India's Deccan Chronicle claiming Narain Karthikeyan could join Paul di Resta.

While Karthikeyan is believed to have raised a considerable sum in sponsorship, Force India are delaying making a final decision although the newspaper said he had been offered - and rejected - a reserve driver spot.

"As soon as Narain's long-term sponsors Tata increased the budget for 2013, talks with Force India began," the Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying. "Unlike the past, the negotiation has been a lot more positive. As reserve drivers don't have much of a role in F1 these days, Narain is only interested in the second driver's seat.

"If talks fail, he will probably go to America for IndyCar, where a couple of teams have already shown interest."

Last season Karthikeyan drove for the now-defunct HRT team.
