Force India has given GP2 driver James Calado a chance to prove himself at the Young Driver Test at Silverstone this week as he gets ready to share the team's running with race drivers Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil.

The test takes part over three days at Silverstone this week and has been opened up to race drivers as long as they take part in tyre testing dictated by Pirelli. Force India has not released a running plan, but any performance testing on the VJM06 will have to be undertaken with Calado, or another F1 rookie, behind the wheel.

"We are pleased to give James the opportunity to test with us at Silverstone," team principal Vijay Mallya said. "As a graduate of the Racing Steps Foundation, his talent and determination have brought him to our attention and this is the ideal occasion to evaluate him further. The priority this week is to give the team a better understanding of the new Pirelli tyres due to be introduced next week in Budapest."

Calado finished fifth in the GP2 Series last year with two victories and is fifth again this year after a string of podium finishes at the last three races. He has previously completed straight-line tests for Force India but this is his first full-circuit F1 test.
