James Calado says he "can't hide" the fact that he's in discussions with Force India over a potential reserve driver role with the team.

Reserve drivers getting time in the car during Friday practice sessions have been a regular part of the Force India driver line-up in recent years with Paul di Resta, Nico Hulkenberg and Jules Bianchi all benefiting. However, with Bianchi taking up a race seat at Marussia this season the team hasn't had a third driver in place and Calado is now favourite for the role after his appearance for the team at the Young Driver Test.

Calado - who is currently fifth in the GP2 standings - drove at some point on each of the three days of the test and says he thinks he acquitted himself well as negotiations with the team continue.

"Doing the Force India test was fantastic," Calado told Sky Sports. "It was amazing to get in a Formula One car. I was getting evaluated by the team and I'd like to say I did a fantastic job! I got to grips with it quicker than I expected actually and was able to give good feedback.

"I can't hide that we're having discussions with Force India, my manager Nicolas Todt is talking to them now, and it's hopefully likely that things will happen in the near future."
