Nico Hulkenberg says he wants to have a strong team-mate at Force India but doesn't care who it is.

Force India announced Hulkenberg's return to the team on Tuesday, with at least one of Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil set to leave the team as a result. Sergio Perez is favourite to be Hulkenberg's team-mate in a complete overhaul of Force India's driver line-up but Hulkenberg said he doesn't have a preference as long as his team-mate can help him perform.

"It doesn't really matter for me, to be honest," Hulkenberg told Sky Sports. "I want to have a strong team-mate, one which is challenging me and I can challenge him - because that way we're pushing each other and the team forward. I know there's a few names around in the press but it's not my decision; it's the shareholders' decision and the team management and I'm sure it won't be long before we know."

Hulkenberg also said he had chosen to join Force India because he felt wanted at the team, having previously been named as the first choice at Lotus.

"For me, really, at some point I had to take a decision on my future - not to be left without a seat. At Force India, I really felt they wanted me; they were able to answer the questions I wanted and give me the info I needed and was asking. That was different to other people. Therefore I made the decision to come here. I have good trust and belief in this team that we can put something together which will allow us to have some special results."
