Force India has expanded its driver development programme further this season by moving into GP3 as part of its ongoing partnership with Hilmer Motorsport.

Hilmer is yet to confirm any of its three drivers for the GP3 series, but the seats will likely be hot property as they will be viewed a potential stepping stone towards F1. This year Force India has already partnered with the team in GP2, F1's feeder category, with the cars of Daniel Abt and Facu Regalia running in the traditional colours of the senior team during pre-season.

"Our partnership with Hilmer to field a GP3 team reaffirms Sahara Force India's commitment towards developing a new generation of drivers," Vijay Mallya said. "Combined with our support for grassroots karting, our presence in GP3 and GP2 lends valuable support to up-and-coming racers and will help them to realise their potential."

Franz Hilmer, head of the German team, said: "We are very happy to announce the expansion of our collaboration with Sahara Force India. We offer an ideal platform to young drivers and our target is to prepare them as effectively as possible on their way to the pinnacle of motor racing."
