Nico Hulkenberg says he is encouraged by his first impression of the 2015 Force India but says it is way too early to gauge the car's performance.

Force India finally rolled out the VJM08 on Friday, the ninth day of winter testing. Despite an early setback when Hulkenberg sustained a puncture on his installation lap he went on to record 77 laps - mostly after lunch

The team ran its 2014 car at the first Barcelona test last week but Hulkenberg felt good to finally get to grips with this year's challenger.

"Just from a pure running point of view, it was very good," he said. "Out of the box there was no issue, not one. We managed 77 laps pretty much only in an afternoon, which is pretty remarkable. We are playing catch up at the moment and making checks that teams have done weeks ago, but it was a positive day. We now need to try and learn about this car quickly."

Hulkenberg thinks there has been a certain degree of evolution from the VJM07, last year's car, to the one he finally took to the Barcelona track.

"Some areas remind me of last year's car, it doesn't feel like a totally different car. Not completely different, but a little bit. Some areas are better, I can tell already, some areas we need to work on, but that isn't unusual. It is a start and a base line, but we have a lot of work ahead of us."
