European Rugby Cup have confirmed the referees to take charge of the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

English referee Dave Pearson returns to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to officiate favourites Leinster against Cardiff Blues on Saturday April 7, just over two months after angering Irish fans with his failure to recommend a red card for Wales lock Bradley Davies during the Six Nations clash with Ireland.

Welshman Nigel Owens takes charge of Edinburgh's clash with French giants Toulouse at Murrayfield earlier on the same day. A record 25,000 tickets have already been sold for Edinburgh's first appearance in the last eight in eight years.

France's Romain Poitre, who refereed last season's epic Heineken Cup final between Northampton Saints and Leinster, will oversee the all-Irish clash between Munster and Ulster at Thomond Park on Sunday April 8. Meanwhile Alain Rolland will referee Saracens against Clermont Auvergne later that day at Vicarage Road.

John Lacey will take charge of his first European club knock-out match when London Wasps meet Biarritz at Adams Park on Saturday April 7. Fellow Irishman Peter Fitzgibbon will officiate Stade Francais against Exeter, while George Clancy is in charge of Toulon against Harlequins and Englishman Wayne Barnes referees Brive against the Scarlets.
