Former All Blacks scrum-half Byron Kelleher will not join Bayonne next season, the Top 14 club has confirmed.

The 35-year-old, capped 57 times by New Zealand, is a free agent after the ambitious club tore-up a pre-contract between the parties.

Kelleher has spent recent seasons with Toulouse, winning the Top 14 and Heineken Cup, but his services are not required next season. Wallabies No.9 Luke Burgess is expected to arrive at Le Rouge et Noir following the Rugby World Cup.

Since his relationship with Bayonne soured, Kelleher has been linked with a move to Stade Francais.

"Byron Kelleher is free from today to sign for another club," Bayonne said in a statement.

Reports in France also suggest that Bayonne will not be signing Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips from the Ospreys due to the player's wage demands.
