McKenzie insists enough is enough

Stade Francais Coach Ewen McKenzie will undoubtedly be the unhappiest coach of the week after he saw his side go down 35-40 at home to lowly Montauban.

McKenzie, who later described the performance as 'catastrophic', watched on as Cedric Rosalen kicked 25 points for the Montalbanais to record an historic and unlikely away victory in the capital.

Speaking to L'Equipe, McKenzie said, "It's just not possible to continue [playing] in this manner, it's catastrophic. I'll have a look at the video again but we missed too many tackles. We tried to move the ball alright and that was okay but our defence was just catastrophic."

Meanwhile Toulon coach Philippe Saint-André admitted he was satisfied with his sides' narrow 26-21 win at home to Clermont Auvergne. "It's really important to calibrate ourselves against one of the best side in France and in Europe," admitted Saint André. "We showed at the start of the game that we're still not yet a team that knows how to play each other but we showed a lot of desire and scored two lovely tries."

Champions Perpignan continued their decent start to the season with a 21-9 victory over Brive. Coach Jacques Brunel praised the opportunism of his side in eking out the narrow win but stressed that he wasn't completely satisfied with the performance.

"We didn't play particularly well and we certainly didn't play to the conditions out there," he said. "But we did have plenty of determination, stuck at it and that's something that has improved from the earlier matches this season."

Finally, happier times for Bourgoin coach Xavier Péméja. The club recorded its second consecutive victory against Racing Metro just hours after the club was saved from financial meltdown. "To get a second successive win after such a difficult week was great," said Péméja.
