Jenson Button admits he overreacted to the contact he had with Lewis Hamilton at the German Grand Prix.

The pair collided at the hairpin when Button ran deep into the corner to get a better exit and Hamilton attempted a move up the inside. As Button came across to claim a late apex, Hamilton's front wing sustained damage, but both cars made the exit of the corner.

After the race Button told TV crews: "I think the problem with Lewis is he expected me to let him past. I don't think I'm the only person he drove into today. It's strange, when the car is that much quicker you'd think you wouldn't get into those kind of fights - but there you go."

However, after reflecting on the incident, Button said he could understand why Hamilton attempted the move.
