David Valesecchi got the jump on his rivals at the start of Sunday's sprint race and held on to claim his first GP2 victory for over two years at Abu Dhabi.

Second place for Luiz Razia's clinched the team championship for Rapax, who beat Barwa Addax to the title.

Starting from fourth on the grid, the iSport driver made a good start to lead out of the first corner as poleman Josef Kral was slightly delayed off the line and Razia went in too deep.

Romain Grosjean stayed third and remained there until the finish, holding off the challenge of Dani Clos, who missed out on overhauling Jules Bianchi for third in the standings.

Behind the top three Sam Bird made his customary flier off the line but was overtaken by Dani Clos for fourth. But that was as good as it got for Bird as race 1 winner Sergio Perez made an over-opportunistic attempt to pass, colliding with his ART and putting both drivers out of the race.

Kral claimed fifth place after holding off a spirited challenge from the second iSport of Oliver Turvey. But champion Pastor Maldonado endured another disappointing race, failing to score for the sixth race in succession.
