Ruby Walsh will ride On His Own in next week's Grand National, it was announced on Saturday.

Leading jockey Walsh was highly sought-after ahead of the big race at Aintree, with several offers on the table. He had been expected to ride Prince De Beauchene until a recent injury ruled the Willie Mullins-trained horse out of contention.

Walsh, though, will stick with a Mullins ride by piloting On His Own, and momentum is growing behind the eight-year-old. Once offered at 60/1 On His Own is now settling around 20/1 just a week before the National.

"After some pleasing work on the gallops this week, Ruby has decided to ride On His Own in the Grand National," confirmed a brief statement on Mullins' website.

Other options that Walsh could have taken included Seabass, trained by his father, or Neptune Collonges, trained by Paul Nicholls.
