Connections of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised have confirmed the nine-year-old as an intended runner in Saturday's Grand National.

Synchronised produced one of the performances of the season at Cheltenham in March, overshadowing Kauto Star and Long Run for victory. Piloted by Tony McCoy, the Jonjo O'Neill charge upset the favourites to take the blue riband race at Prestbury Park.

Now Synchronised will aim to achieve what only one other horse has done. Only Golden Miller, in 1934, has followed Gold Cup success with Grand National glory in the same season.

Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus, said: "At the minute, the plan is for him to go. He just has to do a little bit [of work] during the week to make sure Jonjo's happy with him."

Berry also confirmed that Sunnhillboy is set to feature in the famous steeplechase, saying: "Sunnyhillboy is in good order and he definitely goes to Aintree."
