Pedro de la Rosa, replaced as one of Sauber's race drivers earlier this week, could find an alternative drive with HRT according to reports in the Spanish press.

Diario AS said the Spanish team HRT "would like to have a high quality driver like Pedro as team-mate for Bruno Senna". HRT is already giving a seat to the limited Sakon Yamamoto in return for much-needed funding but de la Rosa would tick many boxes with potential sponsors as a home-grown driver. The newspaper also linked 22-year-old Spaniard Javier Villa with the team.

Another Spanish source, aldiaf1.com, claimed the 39-year-old de la Rosa met with HRT team owner Jose Ramon Carabante in the Monza paddock last weekend, shortly before the announcement came from Sauber. When it came, he told reporters: "I still intend to be in Formula One for 2011."

"I have spoken with Pedro de la Rosa," Carabante confirmed, but indicated nothing would happen until the current season was finished. He also dismissed suggestions his team might not be around much longer. "We will, for sure, complete this season," he said. "We're going well and working hard on next year."
