Narain Karthikeyan has revealed that HRT's new car will not be ready until the final pre-season test in Bahrain.

After a deal to use Toyota's 2010 car fell through, HRT has turned its focus to modifying its current Dallara chassis for the season opener in Bahrain on March 13. HRT had always planned to run its 2010 car at the first test in Valencia, but a date for its new car had not been confirmed.

"We have four tests before the race in Bahrain, the first being in Valencia, followed by Jerez and Barcelona and then a four-day test in Bahrain a week before the season opener," Karthikeyan told the Times of India. "Our new car won't be ready for the first three tests in Spain where I will drive the 2010 car.

"The biggest change [for the 2011 car] will be the gearbox and hydraulics package from Williams. The car will have the Cosworth engine, coupled with the systems from Williams. Basically, the whole geometry around the engine will be the same as the Williams cars."

He also revealed that his team-mate for the season will be named soon.

"The second and reserve drivers will be finalised in a week or so," he added.
