Indian GP organisers happy with date change

The organisers of the Indian Grand Prix say they are happy to skip 2014 in order to move the race to an earlier slot in the calendar.

India will not be on next year's calendar as Bernie Ecclestone wants to move the race to earlier in the year to coincide with the early flyaway races in Australia, Malaysia, China and Bahrain. With this year's race taking place in late October, it was decided the circuit would struggle to host two in close succession and so Ecclestone said the next edition of the race will be in 2015.

While Sameer Gaur - CEO of Jaypee Sports International Ltd - says the organisers preferred to keep the race in its current slot he said they are happy to be flexible.

"October-November period suits us better both weather-wise as well as it being festive season, but if Formula One Management wants us to hold our race in March, 2015 we don't have any problem with that." Gaur said.

The average high temperature in Delhi in October is 33C. With Ecclestone saying "We will have to club India with the four rounds in the Asia Pacific region," a March race date would see an average of 30C but an April slot would likely see higher temperatures with an average high of 37C.
