June 18, 2013
To coincide with the British & Irish Lions' tour of Australia, and in association with Dove Men+Care, we are asking you to vote on our short-list of greatest Lions moments of the professional era. We'll announce the results of each poll as we build up to the eagerly-anticipated Test series against the Wallabies. In the third part of our series, we want you to pick the greatest controversy - was it the tip-tackle on Lions captain Brian O'Driscoll by New Zealand's Tana Umaga and Keven Mealamu in the opening moments of the first Test in 2005? Or was it the gouging of Lions winger Luke Fitzgerald by South Africa flanker Schalk Burger in the second Test in 2009? Perhaps the headline-grabbing exploits of England duo Matt Dawson and Austin Healey on the 2001 tour will get your vote? Or does the elbow from Australia's Nathan Grey on Lions flanker Richard Hill in the second Test in 2001 still grate? Or maybe the mauling of the Lions' Ronan O'Gara at the hands of the Waratahs' Duncan McRae during their clash in 2001 will get your vote? Re-live those great moments above, select your favourite using our poll and then let us know your thoughts below. Coming soon...the best British & Irish Lions Test matches.
