Ogogo and Joshua keep medals coming

Anthony Ogogo is guaranteed an Olympic bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals of the middleweight division.

Ogogo, who stunned No. 1 seed Ievgen Khytrov in the last 16, saw off Germany's Stefan Hartel 15-10.

Spurred on by a loud home crowd in the ExCeL Arena, Ogogo dominated the opening round as Hartel struggled to deal with the Brit's speed. The German provided greater resistance in the next two rounds, but was never able to get back in the contest as Ogogo finished with some neat combinations.

Ogogo will face Brazil's Esquiva Falcao on Friday for a place in the gold medal match.

Team GB have now secured four medals in the ring - with Nicola Adams, Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell safely through to the semi-finals.

Earlier on Monday, flyweight Adams defeated Stoyka Petrova to reach the semi-finals, but Natasha Jonas was defeated by Ireland's lightweight world champion Katie Taylor and Savannah Marshall fell to Maria Volnova in the middleweight division.

While later in the evening, Joshua kept himself on course for gold in the ring after beating China's Zhilei Zhang. The local boy put his opponent down early and then kept him at bay to book his place in the semi-finals of the super-heavyweight competition.

Joshua will face Kazakhstan's Ivan Dychko for a place in the final and he said: "It's going to be tough. I've got a good win here and there's going to be some positive energy."
