Lotus is targeting consistent podium finishes to make Kimi Raikkonen a genuine contender for the title this season.

Raikkonen finished second at the last two races, after a slump in form at the Monaco, Canadian and British grands prix, and is now 38 points adrift of Sebastian Vettel in the championship. Team principal Eric Boullier is confident the improved results are here to stay and says beating Red Bull is not just a dream but actually possible.

"It is the most important thing to have the pace, and there will be some tracks where we struggle a little bit more, but I'm sure more or less we will be consistent and fighting for podiums every weekend. That's good for the constructors' chase and obviously if we can give Kimi the same push and start to beat Red Bull every weekend - okay, maybe I'm dreaming - but here [in Hungary] we did it."

Boullier is optimistic the next two races in Belgium and Italy could be happy hunting grounds for Lotus.

"In Spa we should be good," he added. "Monza is always particular because it requires a low-downforce package. Maybe in some way we could have a good race there because the less downforce you get the more harsh with tyres you are, so we should get the benefit of our car design."
