Grosjean not taking 2014 Lotus drive for granted

Romain Grosjean says he will "show his value on track" as he vies to remain at Lotus next season.

It was announced last week that Kimi Raikkonen will leave Lotus for Ferrari at the end of the year, with team boss Eric Boullier saying he is in talks with "a few" possible replacements. Raikkonen's departure should strengthen Grosjean's position for a 2014 drive if the team intends to carry some consistency through to next year, but he insists he will do all he can to prove he deserves to stay on.

"I am keeping focused on this season by doing the best job I can for the team and showing my value on track," Grosjean said when asked how the recent movement in the driver market had affected him.

"We have some fantastic races ahead and it's going to be a busy couple of months. I'll be pushing to do the very best job I can and I know the race team and everyone at Enstone wants to finish this season with the strongest results possible, so naturally we want to get back on the podium as much as possible."

Grosjean has struggled for results at times this year, with four consecutive races outside the points between the Spanish and British grands prix. Nonetheless, he is expecting to have a chance to shine at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix on the tight and twisty Marina Bay circuit.

"It's a very high downforce track and that seems to suit us best as we saw in Budapest," he said. "In terms of the tyres I think we should be looking good too. Certainly, we should be able to perform stronger than at the last two races which haven't always suited our car."
