Lotus took its 2014 Formula One car on track for the first time on Friday after completing a filming day at Jerez.

The team opted to miss the first test at Jerez last week to extend its time working on the E22 at its factory, but the filming day gave it a shakedown ahead of its first public run in Bahrain later this month. The test also provided crucial mileage for engine supplier Renault, which struggled with a variety of problems during the opening test.

The car is noticeably different to the others launched this year as it features a two-pronged nose to satisfy new safety regulations regarding the height of the tip of the nose. The team tweeted a picture from Jerez on Friday morning and Pastor Maldonado said he would be at the wheel. Teams are allowed to complete filming days behind closed doors but the car must run on demonstration tyres.
