Max Chilton says he is able to push for changes at Marussia despite his rookie status.

After Timo Glock was replaced by Luiz Razia, Chilton is the more experience driver within the team after driving for Marussia during FP1 in Abu Dhabi and at the Silverstone Young Driver Test last year. While neither driver has a grand prix race start to their name yet, Chilton has carried out duties on all three days at Barcelona so far and said he still feels he has been able to make demands of the team during pre-season.

"I think I can ask them questions and they can ask me to do things just as much," Chilton said. "I know the team now well enough after the last eight months since I did the rookie test so I know them quite well and I feel like I can ask or say 'yeah that was my fault' or 'that was your fault'. So it's a really good situation and this test the last three days being in the car has been really beneficial because you can get some really good, consistent feedback and the engineers gel with you the more you're in the car."

Chilton also said that the team's future performance gains would not necessarily all be due to aerodynamic updates.

"We've still got some aero stuff to come but it's really getting the set-up right. We've got the base car, but there's so many things with an F1 car you can change, it's amazing. So there's definitely a lot we can do with the mechanical and the braking side with it and the KERS; the team haven't run that before so there's plenty more to come in both areas. Hopefully we can get some more testing and some more mileage done at the next test."
