Marussia revival still possible, maybe by Abu Dhabi
Graeme Lowdon says Marussia can be on the grid in 2015 and says the team is even hopeful a rescue deal can be sorted out by the Abu Dhabi finale.
Lowdon, the president of the defunct Banbury outfit, says there are "very few things which need to be solved" in order to make the grid for the Yas Marina race, despite administrators winding the team up on November 7.
"I don't think I feel there's no way back," Lowdon told Sky Sports F1. "We are very competitive people and we will keep fighting until there is absolutely no chance at all. At the moment there's still very much a chance we can compete in 2015 and beyond, and indeed in Abu Dhabi. It's been a very busy weekend, we've worked very closely with Geoff Rowley, our administrator.
"We owe it to all of the guys who helped get us here, the fans, our drivers, to Jules [Bianchi], we owe it to everyone to ensure we do everything that we can to ensure that this team continues. It's a really great team, I think we have something to offer Formula One and we intend to keep pushing all the way.
"It's a very complex situation as these things tend to be. We've had to solve an awful lot of problems we were presented with and I think we've solved virtually all of those now, we're down to one or two pivotal things which need to happen and they could happen very, very quickly. There is a lot of interest from potential investors and if we can ensure we have a solid footing to move forward then we'll do so."
With an entry provisionally submitted for next season under the name Manor F1, Lowdon says the 2015 chassis was on schedule right up until the day the team ceased trading.
"[The focus is] not really about racing in Abu Dhabi, it's about ensuring our 2015 car is on schedule. Right up until Friday the design and manufacturer of that is on schedule and that's really, really important, perhaps more important than racing in Abu Dhabi. The commercial conditions that we all adhere to our quite rightly confidential but I think it's fairly widely reported that teams can miss three races and still continue. That said our focus would very much be on Abu Dhabi, we're a racing team and that's what we do, we race."
