Marussia to miss final test with new car

Marussia will miss the final test in Barcelona after failing its final FIA crash test with its new car.
The team had originally planned on launching the MR01 in time for the second pre-seasont test but delays meant the launch was pushed back until this week. Marussia has now confirmed that the car has failed the 18th and final FIA crash test, meaning that it will not be allowed to participate in testing between March 1-4. A statement from the team said that it "will instead focus its efforts on repeating the crash test at the end of the week".
Marussia ran the 2011 car at Barcelona last week to give Charles Pic mileage and gain an understanding of the new Pirelli tyres, but it now won't be present for the final test ahead of the Australian Grand Prix on March 18.
New regulations brought in for this season require the teams to pass all of the FIA crash tests in order for their chassis to be homologated ahead of testing. Previously the cars were not required to pass all crash tests in order to participate in the pre-season tests.
