McLaren has played down reports the FIA is looking into the legality of its 2010 car's rear wing.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner told the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail that "a bit of a fuss" had been caused by a slot in the wing designed to cut drag at high speeds. He added that Ferrari had joined Red Bull in launching a protest and the Italian team is more "excited" about the issue than his. However, McLaren has said it is unaware of an inquiry by the FIA or any problems with the wing.

"We're very confident our car is entirely legal and we're not aware of any protest," a McLaren spokeswoman said. "In fact, we've spoken to Ferrari this morning, and they're not aware of any protest either."

Subsequent reports suggest the FIA is not concerned about the MP4-25, but has accepted an invitation to study the rear wing in detail.
