'A lot' of interest to be manager - Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton has revealed he received "a lot" of applications to become his new manager but said he is in no rush to make a decision.
It emerged before the 2010 season opener that his father Anthony would no longer handle his professional contracts, despite playing a big part in his career up to that point. Martin Brundle and Mika Hakkinen have both been touted as potential replacements but Hamilton wasn't willing to let any names slip.
"Honestly, I have received a lot of applications but I'm not in a hurry to decide," he told Formula One's official website. "I am with a fantastic team, with many competent people, so at the moment I have no need for a manager. At the moment I'm not in any contractual negotiations."
F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone advised Hamilton to remain unrepresented.
"A driver doesn't need a manager," he said. "Gerhard Berger is the prime example of that. He managed himself and was making more money than anybody else at the time he was racing. I am sure he made better deals for himself than he would have done with a manager at his side."
