McLaren is set to steal a key member of Red Bull's design team, according to a report.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport claims that head of aerodynamics Peter Prodromou has been enticed back to the team he left in 2006 to join Adrian Newey at Red Bull. According to the report, Prodromou will return to McLaren in 2015 due to the need to complete a year's gardening leave before switching teams.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh had promised "headline-grabbing" signings last weekend in Korea.

"This year we can't be satisfied with where we are, so we've been recruiting in the technical team, strengthening that quite a lot, and there have been quite a few new starters this year," Whitmarsh said.

"There are some yet to be announced who will be headline-grabbing when they are announced. So there are things going on, clearly. We've got to look at ourselves as a team from the top of the management all the way through to the technical team to make sure we can return to winning ways as quickly as possible."
