Hamilton could be 'unbeatable' - Button
Jenson Button says he knows from his time alongside Lewis Hamilton at McLaren that his fellow Englishman will be unstoppable in his quest for a second world title if "his head is in the right place" for the rest of the season.
In their title fight this year Nico Rosberg and Hamilton - who are separated by just four points in the standings - have been compared with Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna; a thinker against a thoroughbred racer. However Button, who was Hamilton's team-mate at McLaren from 2010 until 2012, disagrees with that assessment.
"People say Lewis Hamilton is quicker but Nico Rosberg is more intelligent, but I don't know though," Button said during an interview with talkSPORT. "I know how quick Lewis is and if his head is in the right place he will be unbeatable."
Button is in the middle of a second frustrating season for McLaren but he has full faith the Woking team will turn around its fortunes soon.
"It's been a very tough year to be fair, very tough. We are not where we are used to being at the front. McLaren is used to fighting up the front with the other top teams. But this year that hasn't been the case. But we are getting strong and the British Grand Prix showed that. We qualified third in tricky conditions and just, almost got a podium - but didn't quite. It was an amazing weekend and so much support from the fans. It was a very, very special race.
"We've got the best engine, which is the Mercedes, so we don't have that excuse. We just haven't built a good enough car to win races this year. We're working hard however, and there have been a lot of improvements already this year, personnel changes and what have you and adding to the strong team that we already have.
"We will win races. It is just a matter of time. It is very frustrating [not being able to win] because when you have won races before and a championship, nothing else is good enough, but we're on the right track and that's the most important thing."
