Honda's head of motorsport Yasuhisa Arai says there has still been no decision on McLaren's 2015 driver-line up ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen, both out of contract at the end of 2014, are being made to wait on new deals. McLaren is weighing up its options, with the team believed to have sounded out Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, as it continues to pursue "the best drivers available".

Though F1 heads to the Honda-owned Suzuka circuit Arai says other matters besides McLaren's 2015 driver line-up will be on the agenda for meetings between the team and the Japanese manufacturer.

"We are constantly talking about which drivers we would like to see and whilst McLaren is here in Japan it is only natural that we organise some meetings with McLaren," Arai told Sky Sports. "But I don't think we will be discussing the topic of drivers given that nothing is decided."

Honda released the first image of its 2015 V6 power unit on Wednesday, something Arai believes can spark McLaren's fortunes after a frustrating campaign this year.

"Of course there are various reasons for the performance we have seen from McLaren this season. So based on those experiences we are making efforts towards making that jump."
