Aside from the daunting task of defending his Formula One drivers' title, Jenson Button is gearing up for a challenge of a different kind when he once again participates in the 2010 London Triathlon for his chosen charity.

Button, who started competing in triathlons two years ago as a way of keeping fit for Formula One, is a patron of the Make A Wish Foundation which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Button raised a considerable amount of money for his charity last year and is hoping to do even better when he participates in this year's race on the weekend of Saturday, August 8.

"Having raised almost £20,000 last year I knew we would have to dig deep to beat that so a lot is going into this year's event," said Button on his official website. "I've even managed to convince Vernon Kay to take part who, having said he was just going to run around with a bucket next to me, is now taking it very seriously!

"It's an even bigger task this year due to the very high benchmark we set ourselves last time, so please, please dig into your pockets and sponsor me."
