Ron Dennis has conceded that McLaren's current team principal Martin Whitmarsh is better at managing two world champions than he ever was.

Dennis famously took on Niki Lauda and Alain Prost as well as Prost and Ayrton Senna as team-mates at McLaren when he was team principal. The Prost and Senna rivalry is considered to be one of the bitterest in the sport's history and Dennis was again in charge when Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton came to blows in 2007.

McLaren now has two British world champions in Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button at the team, but the pair have so far cooperated.

When asked about the current driver pairing by F1i Magazine, Dennis said: "Managing the co-habitation of two world champions is often a challenge.

"I have tried it a few times. Martin is perhaps showing himself to be better than me at that role."
