Jenson Button not worried by Eddie Irvine's comments
Jenson Button has hit back at ex-Formula One driver Eddie Irvine's comments that he will be "murdered" on track by his new team-mate at McLaren, Lewis Hamilton.
Irvine told ESPNF1, "Jenson has entered the lion's den - it was madness of him to move. He thinks he's going to be able to eat his steak and that's not going to be the case. I think he's going to get murdered."
But when questioned about the remarks during a visit to McLaren's Woking base on Thursday, Button appeared unflustered by the comments.
"I don't think it's worth looking into too much what people say because nobody knows what the situation is going to be this season," he said. "It makes my life a lot easier. I'm in a more relaxed position than if people were telling me I'm going to destroy my team-mate."
Hamilton was not at Woking on Thursday, so McLaren issued a statement wishing its driver a happy 25th birthday.
"He's still training hard, loving every minute of it and will be back here shortly to begin preparations for the launch of the 2010 car later this month," said the team.
