Lewis Hamilton says he is happy at McLaren this year and is not entertaining thoughts of leaving the team any time soon.

Hamilton's contract with McLaren will expire at the end of 2012 and last year he was linked to a move to Red Bull after a difficult start to the season. But he currently leads the championship after finishing third at the first three races and insists he is not contemplating a move to another team.

"It is not about being persuaded, I don't need persuading," he was quoted by the Times. "But the team are doing fantastic. I could not be happier in the team. I am definitely consistent this year - consistently third. But I am happy, given the way we have quite a few points and are still in the fight."

Last year Hamilton admitted problems in his personal life had a knock-on effect on his driving, but in 2012 he is much happier and spoke of his renewed bond with his father.

"Everything is better this year," Hamilton said. "The team is better, the car is better, I am a lot better and I have got my dad here [in China]. And that is not fake. We have a really good bond now. We are on the up. Things are great and that's reflected in my performances."
