McLaren has released a promotional video for its new MP4-12C Spider supercar, and very pretty it is too. The MP4-12C Spider is based on the same chassis as the existing Coupe, but features a folding roof capable of turning the car into an open-top roadster in just 17 seconds.

The 616bhp MP4-12C Spider is now on sale now with deliveries set for November ... just in time for winter. The video draws parallels with between the new car and its Formula One siblings, with several features on the MP4-12C being derived from McLaren's F1 experience.

However, those wanting McLaren's ultimate road-going vehicle should wait for the launch of the company's new hypercar at the Geneva Motor Show next year. Only known by its internal name of 'P12', the new car will be based on the same carbon-fibre tub as the MP4-12C but will have a tweaked version of the V8 turbo engine with an output of over 750bhp plus a 100bhp KERS boost.
