Nico Rosberg says he has "a stronger voice" at Mercedes following Michael Schumacher's departure from the team.

Schumacher retired for a second time at the end of 2012, with Lewis Hamilton coming in as Rosberg's new team-mate. Having been with Mercedes since it returned to Formula One in 2010, Rosberg is now in his fourth season with the team and when asked if his standing within the team was different after Schumacher left, he replied: "Yes, very.

"I now have a stronger voice," Rosberg told Krone. "And to me that's a beautiful process in which I can help Mercedes become the best team."

Rosberg also said that while he ultimately wanted to win the world championship, this year his focus was on race victories with Mercedes.

"Sure [the title is] the big goal, but now I want to win races, because success is the most fun … We want to improve ourselves - in the direction of race wins."
