Mercedes' 2013 potential 'very promising' - Lowe
Mercedes executive director (technical) Paddy Lowe says the progress the team has made this season is "very promising" for the rest of the year.
Lowe joined the team ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix when Mercedes had only managed to win the Monaco Grand Prix. However, as it has improved its race pace with the Pirelli tyres, the team has gone on to win at both Silverstone and the Hungaroring, with the latter victory increasing the belief the team could challenge for both championships.
While he was keen to play down his own impact in the improvements shown at Mercedes, Lowe said the recent successes set the team up well for the remainder of the season.
"[The improvement is] not down to me," Lowe told Sky Sports F1. "I'm trying to distance myself from that, but the team have produced a great car this year. There have been one or two problems which needed to be understood, particularly around race pace, but we're clearly making progress.
"We've tried things. The team is very strong and has done a great job to understand the problems and adapt with a moving target because the tyres have kept changing. Hopefully we'll have some stability now, and that is what is very promising for the races to come."
