Lewis Hamilton says he will not feel comfortable about leading the 2014 drivers' championship until he has wrapped up the title.

Hamilton secured his fourth straight victory in China - the second time has achieved that feat this season - and in doing so extended his championship lead over Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to 17 points. Despite having just three races left in 2014 Hamilton feels no reason to dwell on his current position.

"There is never a comfortable feeling," Hamilton said. "I don't think I ever did have a comfortable feeling when I was in a championship fight ever in my life. It's tense all the way to the end and this is a championship that is going to go to the end. I just hope that the future is bright in these next few races."

Hamilton thinks the retirements both he and team-mate Nico Rosberg have suffered this year is proof the whole complexion of the title fight could change in an instant.

"Nico is very close, very fast and doing a great job. I'll just keep my head down - there's still three races to go, a long way to go. It's encouraging to see the result for the team and the performance of the car. It is very positive to have the points and be finishing ahead of Nico but history's shown this year that the gap can never be enough. The most important thing is what the gap is at the end of the year."

Though enjoying a purple patch of form since the controversial Belgian Grand Prix Hamilton sees no reason to turn down the pressure now he has Rosberg on the back foot.

"I like to think l am still growing as a driver, moulding and improving in some areas. I will improve for these final races and keep turning up the heat."
