Michael Schumacher has admitted he might have to change his approach in order to achieve his goals this season.

The Mercedes driver admitted he was not happy with his 12th place finish at the Turkish Grand two weeks ago, but insists his mood ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix "is no different to any other event". However, he said his mistake in turn one during qualifying at Istanbul, which left him eighth on the grid and led to his problems in the race, has convinced him to review his approach.

"Certainly I need to change something, in a way that avoids the mistake that I did in turn one in Turkey, that leads to other things you do over the edge," he was quoted by Autosport on Thursday. "If you are in the flow and everything is right then you feel it, I am aware and I know that I am able to do this, but I know you have to pull it in the right moment of time and that success rate is not yet 100%."

He admitted that his team-mate Nico Rosberg was currently making less mistakes and that he used the younger German as a reference.

"I don't think it is to do with pressure, I think it is just getting it spot on and I don't forget that my team-mate is pretty good on this one to get it spot on," he added. "It is good for the team, and for me to have him as a reference in certain moments but it is also helpful for him to both have each other for references to push each other up to where we are."

But he said he was not worried about his recent performances and is sure he will return to the podium in the future.

"Sports are emotion and they go up and they go down in certain moments," he said. "I am more than certain I will have the upper hand in the end. I am not worried about that."
