Michael Schumacher took the blame for his off-track excusion on Friday morning, but said Mercedes still finished its second day of testing at Barcelona happy.

He completed just 19 laps ahead of lunch, stopping on track at turn eight early in the session before making a mistake at turn five later and beaching the Mercedes in the gravel. Schumacher had a more productive afternoon, boosting his overall tally to 79 laps, and said Mercedes completed its test objectives.

"The start of our day was something of a struggle this morning, partly down to me as well, and it seemed as if the afternoon might start that way also," he said. "Fortunately the session turned out well, and we achieved all of the test items that we wanted. So in the end, it was a positive day, but we will only see later how we stand compared to the other teams."

Schumacher now has just one more day of testing left ahead of the first race in Australia.
