Nico Rosberg is hoping conditions play into Mercedes' hands at the next two races after struggling with tyre management at last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

Rosberg finished seventh on a three-stop strategy but was coming under attack from the two-stopping Lewis Hamilton on the final lap. The Mercedes driver told his video blog that his car kept overheating its tyres throughout the weekend.

"For us, it was a difficult weekend, just with tyre management really. Even in qualifying, just overheating the tyres, and that was why we were struggling more than some other teams, especially someone like Williams. It was the same in the race."

Rosberg won the Chinese Grand Prix just two races ago and he is confident that a swing in conditions over the next two races could favour Mercedes.

"I only lost two points on the championship lead, which is good, and I am still only 20 points away so it's still open," he said. "As long as we can push on and improve, hopefully the conditions in Monaco and Montreal will favour us again. It's possible, it's just very difficult to understand how the next race is going to be so we'll just have to wait and see."
