Nico Rosberg says "it would be right if Michael [Schumacher] stays" at Mercedes amid speculation Lewis Hamilton will join the team in 2013.

Rosberg's seat is secure at Mercedes, with team principal Ross Brawn having previously said there was no danger of him not being with the team next season. The speculation surrounds who his team-mate will be, however, with Hamilton reportedly the subject of a contract offer from Mercedes and Schumacher - at 43 years old - yet to announce whether he will continue past the end of the 2012 season.

Despite being friends with Hamilton having raced alongside him in previous categories, Rosberg believes the way he and Schumacher work together means it would be best if the current line-up remains in place.

"Michael is still at a very, very high level on the track," Rosberg is quoted as saying in Metro. "It is a challenge to race against him. We push the team forward and usually have the same opinion. I think it would be right if Michael stays."
