Mark Webber said his win in the Monaco Grand Prix was "one of the greatest days" of his life.

"Absolutely incredible," he said after his start-to-finish victory. "To win here was very special, it started yesterday with qualifying when it went well, but here it is such a test for two hours.

"I had a lot of work to do, the track changed a lot, backmarkers and lot of safety cars - getting restarts and tyre pressures right - all the basics that could test were in front of you today. It's amazing ... to join Ayrton Senna and those guys around here is great."

Webber admitted that he had to survive a late scare when Jarno Trulli and Karun Chandhok collided just in front of him near the end. "I saw Jarno doing a lunge down at Rascacsse and thought 'what the hell is going on here?' They interlocked wheels and I hoped I'd have some room to go. I worried if Karun was okay because it all looked like it was around his head."

He said the result was down to the effort put in by his Red Bull team. "We'll continue to work hard. We're not here because we've been slacking, the effort that has gone in from two and a half years, this has been a continuous effort of RB5 into RB6, it's fantastic continuity in the team.

"We're optimistic and we got the maximum we could do today. We need to make that happen as often as possible."
