James DeGale "can't see how he can fail" to win when he fights for the WBA international super-middleweight title against Sam Horton on May 15.

Olympic gold medallist DeGale will get his first title shot on the undercard of Kevin Mitchell's fight against Michael Katsidis. DeGale insists that he is undaunted by the prospect, despite the bout being his first 12-rounder.

"I know I have the skills to pay the bills," DeGale told Metro. "I can't see how I can fail. I'm stepping up to 12 rounds for this one, but I've been training for 12-rounders since the start. It won't last 12 anyway."

DeGale turned professional in February 2009 when he joined Frank Warren's stable - a move that has reaped dividends, with the promoter fast-tracking him into a title fight. "This is quick - I've only been a pro just over a year," he said.

"That's how much faith Frank has in me. I keep telling him how quickly he should fast-track me and I think he got the hint."
