Despite being a veteran of only seven professional fights, James DeGale is desperate to be fast-tracked into a major title fight by the end of the year.

The Olympic gold medallist claimed the WBA international super-middleweight crown earlier this month by stopping Sam Horton on the fifth round.

It was the latest in a series of impressive performances from DeGale, who was confident enough to experiment in the ring against Horton by regularly switching stance.

Now he is keen for his promoter Frank Warren to organise a British or Commonwealth title shot as soon as possible. "I'll leave it to Frank and I'm sure I'll be a domestic champion soon," he said.

"The British title is a lovely belt but, I have to admit, the Commonwealth is a great one to have as well. I want to be busy and I want to box again in seven or eight weeks' time. By the end of the year I want to be British or Commonwealth champion."
